As a program participants, partners and students have access to an array of on-campus resources that can be used in the classroom.
From student support services, classroom tools and library resources, our program is dedicated to providing all the tools 1818 Program participants may need to thrive in our program. That includes tools and resources available to undergraduate students and faculty here at SLU.
SLU Electronic Systems and Access
The MySLU portal provides access to SLU’s suite of software/systems available for faculty, staff and students. All 1818 Program participants will receive an email with directions on how to set up their MySLU portal when they register. Services available through the MySLU portal include:
- Canvas: Canvas is SLU’s course management system. This system creates a course web page on faculty members can post syllabi, readings, assignments, videos, photos, etc. In Canvas you can also set up an electronic gradebook, create quizzes, etc.
- Google Workspace: SLU makes available to all faculty a full suite of Google applications, including Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Sites. Each has a separate icon on the mySLU.edu portal.
- Microsoft Office 365: SLU makes available to all faculty a full suite of Microsoft Office 265 applications, including Excel Online, OneDrive, PowerPoint, Teams and Word Online. Each has a separate icon on the mySLU.edu portal.
- Blue Course Evaluations: SLU’s end-of-term course evaluation system is called Blue, from a company called Explorance. Via the Blue link on the myslu.edu portal, 1818 Program participants can access course evaluations per SLU policy. They will also receive emails each term providing them with links to the Blue system.
Student Success Center
SLU’s Student Success Center is a one-stop shop for student support. While physically located on our St. Louis campus, our Student Success Center can also provide support to 1818 students through video conferencing, phone and email. Information about the various services is provided below.
1818 Program students wishing to take advantage of Student Success Center services should first contact the 1818 Program Office, whose staff can best direct students to the most appropriate support.
Highly qualified peer tutors are available to guide students through the challenges of many of SLU’s 1000- and 2000-level courses. Please contact 1818@slu.edu for more information.
SLU’s University Writing Services (UWS) offers free writing support for any stage
of the writing process and on any type of writing assignment (four to seven pages)
to students enrolled* in the 1818 program.
To request this support:
- Please fill out the Campus Partner Online Submission Form found here.
- Have prepared a draft of your work, which you will add as an attachment in the Campus Partner Online Submission Form.
- Include a description of the project and your writing goals, which you will manually
enter after the file upload.
After submitting the form, you will receive feedback within one to five business days.** The writing consultant will make suggestions using Microsoft Word's Comment function accompanied by an email summarizing their main thoughts, observations, and positive/constructive remarks.

*The student must be requesting assistance for an assignment given in an 1818 course
for which the student is registered or for help with college application letters/essays/statements
of purpose; assistance will not be provided to students who are not taking the course
for college credit or for non-1818 coursework with the one exception above.
**The UWS will be closed during:
- Labor Day (Sept. 1-2)
- Wellness Day (Sept. 25)
- Fall Break (Oct. 24-27)
- Thanksgiving (Nov. 27-Dec. 1)
Responses to student work may take longer during peak times in the semester like midterms (Oct. 14-18) and finals (Dec. 9-13).
All 1818 students have access to resources through SLU’s Pius XII Memorial Library, including online database access.
To gain access to SLU library databases, students must log in with their mySLU credentials, which are separate from their DualEnroll credentials. Students receive their MySLU login information via email mid-semester each term. If students cannot locate their login info, or have difficulty setting up their MySLU account, they should contact our student helpdesk at 314-977-4000.
Once students have established their mySLU credentials, they are ready to access SLU's
library databases. Students should contact their 1818 instructor for information about library resources
or ask one of our librarians.
SLU’s Center for Accessibility and Disability Resources (CADR) supports students’ educational experiences by helping them access academic accommodations and services. CADR coordinates aids and services to meet the needs of students with disabilities to create safe and supportive learning opportunities for everyone. They partner with students, faculty, academic departments, and service providers to facilitate equal access to and opportunity to participate in all University programs, services, and experiences.
For 1818 students, CADR can provide support in complex situations where accommodations might impact a student’s ability to fully engage in the course as a result of the disability.
