When sophomore Tanishaa Manna isn't learning about surgery-performing robots in her biomedical engineering classes, you might find her connecting with her sorority sisters, volunteering with St. Louis' Stray Rescue or organizing events for SLU's Dance Marathon chapter.

Why I Chose SLU
I chose SLU because of the wonderful and supportive engineering community here. The professors are very helpful, and there are extensive research opportunities. St. Louis is the hub of many engineering companies, making the job/internship search easier.
Finding Community as a SLU Billiken
The community is very close-knit, and this allows us to know each other a lot better. Also, I love my sisters in Theta! They made my college experience more enjoyable and worth remembering. From watching late-night movies to making cute pillowcases for the big/little reveal, the Dematt chapter has always been a place to chill and bond with my friends. Each sisterhood allows me to make new memories with my friends, and I know that these bonds are going to last way beyond college.
Fun Fact About My Major
We get to make robots that perform major surgeries, which according to me, is very interesting.

Getting to Know SLU's Campus
I didn’t have a college visit due to Covid. But I watched YouTube videos about SLU's campus. I was really impressed by how close most of the things were. I also loved the fact that it had so much greenery around. The fall colors are literally my favorite!
My favorite campus spots:
1. The duck pond near Olive Compton Parking Garage
2. 4th floor in the library
3. My room!
