COVID-19 Update March 13
Dear members of the Saint Louis University community,
Again, there areno confirmed cases of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) at Saint Louis University .
A few key decisions and topics to make you aware of:
- We heard you , and we areextending remote learning through the end of the spring semester, including final exams. Your concerns about the difficulties created by saying “until at least April 30" as the end time for SLU’s remote learning are valid, and we are fixing it.
- On-campus housing :Students who live in on-campus housingreceived an email last night. Please note that the email included a link to a form (that the student must fill out using their MySLU account info – again, only if they live on campus) about move-out options from now until March 22. That form includes information about delegating move-out help, and exceptions for those students who need to stay on campus (including, but not limited to, our international students).
- Housing, dining and parking refunds : We know there are many questions about refunds for unused dining plans and for the time students won’t spend in the residence halls. A team, including student representation, is working on this. We will inform you as soon as decisions are made.
- Commencement: We are not prepared to make a decision about commencement or summer classes at this point. Our priority is instructional continuity and minimizing disruption to the academic experience for our students.
- Volunteering : We are a community committed to service, especially during difficult times. For those interested in helping students move out, pleasefill out this sign-up form indicating when you are available. Be advised that you will receive a series of public health best practices to ensure that you and those who come to collect stay healthy and safe.
Things are moving quickly. Thank you for your continued patience.
Please know that we will continue to communicate with you, and that you should keepmonitoringSLU’s COVID-19 websitefor more information. You can continue to send your COVID-19 questions topandemic@slu.edu.
Sincerely,
Fred P. Pestello, Ph.D.
