Saint Louis University offers 47 study abroad programs all over the world, including at our Madrid, Spain, campus. At SLU, every undergraduate student in any academic program is guaranteed the opportunity to study abroad at SLU-Madrid.

Study for your biology class on the Spanish steps in Rome. Gain international business experience through an internship in Belgium. Volunteer with a local non-governmental organization in South Africa. Application Deadlines to Study Abroad

Most students study abroad their sophomore or junior year. Talk to your academic advisor early in your time at SLU to determine which semester will be best for you and which courses might be involved. Students must be in good academic and disciplinary standing in order to apply and to study abroad.

If you’re a transfer student, you must spend at least one semester at our St. Louis, Missouri, campus before applying to go abroad. All other students must complete one year at our St. Louis, Missouri, campus.

Your application is due one semester before you wish to study abroad (see below for dates). If you are not able to complete your application by the recommended deadline, please contact the study abroad team for additional information.

SLU-Madrid deadlines:

  • Spring semester program application deadline: June 1
  • Fall semester program application deadline: March 1
  • Summer sessions application deadline: March 1

All other SLU-approved programs deadline:

  • Spring semester program deadline: Oct. 1
  • Fall semester program application deadline: March 15
  • Summer sessions application deadline March 1
